DISTRESS
I just came here to lull you to your sleep a last time
I just came here to tell you how wrong you were all the time
I just came here because I promised you so back in the days
I just came here to tell you farewell for the last time
I hope it’s not too late to pay you a courtesy visit
I hope I wasn’t gone too long, but I wouldn’t wonder
I hope you didn’t believe I have left you willfully
And I hope so hard, one day I’ll fall asleep again
I’m just here to hold eternal deathwatch
I’m just here because you’d do so in reverse
I’m just here to see all their speechless faces
I’m just here to take a look at the graves we’ve dug
I’m just a bit scared I was gone for too long
I’m just a bit scared I could have prevented this if I had been here
I’m just a bit scared that everybody knew but didn’t react
I’m just a bit scared you could still live if I had noticed
Let me carry your pain, the grief and bear the burden
Let me carry all this, you bore it way too long
Let me tell you about a time, that was short but way more reckless
Let me just be your friend, just for one, very last time
They all believe that one life isn’t sufficient, but the way I live mine is surely abundant enough
They all believe they know the right way, but haven’t lived for one single day
They all believe they found the answer to a question that was not even asked
They all believe their lives are way too short, but in the way we lived them…
…these few years were totally adequate
I’m just here to hold eternal deathwatch
I’m just here because you’d do so in reverse
I’m just here to see all their speechless faces
I’m just here to take a look at the graves we’ve dug
Go home my friend, now it’s really time to say goodbye
Go home my friend, no light will illume your shadow today
Go home my friend, let us carry you to your grave now
Go home my friend, I hope the farewell doesn’t last too long

De Wödt so weit, de Nåcht so kloa
De Sterna, einst Myriaden vo Sunnen
De Zeit, sie steht stü unta Wintamonden
Wirft nur no Schåttn, so loss sie mia a Gråb sei
English:
THE SADNESS WILL LAST FOREVER
The nights of our youth were unforgettable
Abandoned and relieved from sorrow
And in the storms of endless summer
Still lies the glance of tender years
I know you’ve walked through the darkest dales
Without coming even close to the paths of light
I know you felt where this journey would end up one day
As it was not your first death…
But I can also still feel the warmth of you
Although you’ve been gone for a long time
Cause you went away one day
Without telling me a word before
You may be someone else today
Maybe I wouldn’t recognize you
But I still often think of you, nearly every day
Cause I can still hear your heartbeat, behind my ears
I look back for one last time and once more see our old dale
Which we called home for so long, but now it admonishes me scornful
It’s no longer our friend and chases us away from its refuge
There lies no future within, I had to realize this unwillingly
When I think about you, after all these years
It will always be late summer
But my memory faded and turned pale and vague
Haven’t we done the right thing to give up on us, back in the days
Will a last breeze of sadness last forever and never vanish?
No?
Maybe?
So, it’s all about our last dance, continuing till the latest beat
It’s all about these songs, that like our dale, know no tomorrow
It’s all about these pictures, of yesteryears in sheer endless numbers
The remembrance of autumn storms and the rapture before the fall
I finally stand on the cliffs that grew into the mountains like meadows
And I can see the stars again, as the night is mourning behind me
And every second of this night I was mindful of the person I once was
As silence guided my way, home to the place of my birth
It’s the wordless farewells that wear out, cause they never happened
It’s the stories that know no end, but the beginning
It’s the deathless hours of vainly waiting
And the familiar voice of which in the end just remains quiet
The world so bright, the night so clear
The stars, one myriads of suns
Time stands still under winter moons
It’s just shadows, so let it shape me a grave

PETRICHOR
The last days somehow really changed me
And a part of me remains behind on these barren and bright fields
I always thought I’d come to die here some day
But instead, these bottomless chasms became the place of my birth
Hidden behind the river the land will widen
The world will vanish, even the storms will calm
I acted deaf and blind, there has never been a goodbye
Back in those days I wasn’t aware that I will have to return home one day
We’re expecting cold days, they’re urging us back home every time
Because also these weightless hours are more delusion than reality
And so are all these quirky stories life conjectured over the years
No groats worth in the thin light of our final days…
…long live death…
…long live death…
The rain here smells strange and different, unlike the rain home
Maybe I delude myself, but I’m pretty sure
Also, the colors, nearly undimmed and pristine
As if I could see everything with clear glimpse, in contrast to all the years before
Clueless and free from grudge, we are thrown into this world
And lose ourselves painfully in big hopes
Stumble through a brutalized world, seed wind, but harvest storms
Burn constantly our hands in the fire, but fail this life so at least with style
We’re expecting cold days, they’re urging us back home every time
Cause also these weightless hours, are more delusion than reality
And so are all these quirky stories life conjectured over the years
No groats worth in the thin light of our final days…
…long live death…
…long live death…

Du bist de traurigste Noten in an jedem vo meine Liada
Wos sogst jetz?
Is des wonoch ma oi de Joare g‘suacht hom?
Da Traum vo da Fremdn?
De Flucht ois letzte Bastion?
Woast as no wer ma domois woan?

Owa I bin iangwie niemois weida zogn

Nimm in Åbgrund in dia ois folgenschware Hemmnis hi…
…und er vaschlingt di

Woast as no wer I woa, I hobs scho fost vergessen
Sog mas nuamoi wia I gwen bin, I dats hoid gern wieder wissen
Dass recht is wer i woan bin, bittsche sog mas, I murs oafoch wissen
English:
CALL OF THE VOID
You are the saddest note in each and every one of my songs
The most onerous poem I ever excogitated
You are the gloomiest part of the way in which we came to a deadlock
You are the most harrowing scream that scares me up (_) every single night
Sometimes I think back to who I was before I knew you
Do you remember who I was, I can hazily remember
Please tell me who I was, I really want to remember
That it’s ok who I became, please tell me, I really need to know
What do you think of that?
Is it what we searched in all these years?
The dream of the foreign and new
Running away as a last bastion
Do you remember who we once were?
I nearly forgot it
Everything changed so quickly
But I am still the same
Look into the abyss too long and the abyss will look back
Looks directly into your soul and tears your heart apart
Take life too serious and you will never ever laugh again
Take the void in you as a fatal hindrance and it engulfs you!
Sometimes I think back, who I was before I knew you
Do you remember who I was, I can hazily remember
Please tell my who I was, I really want to remember
That it’s ok who I became, please tell me, I really need to know
You are the saddest note in each every one of my songs
The most onerous poem I ever excogitated
You are the gloomiest part of the way in which we came to a deadlock
You are the most harrowing scream that scares me up (-) every single night

English:
MY FREEDOM WAS HERE DEATH
After all you still asked for her a few times and often visited the places that once unified you
But you lost sight so many years ago, and you should never ever meet again
It was never granted to you, and if you don’t belong to each other, nobody can pair
And sooner or later our disconcerting life will tear all of us apart
On occasion I return to the persistent places that formed me back in the days
I return home and drink with the guys, that eventually were my friends back then
And I know, even if it sometime feels as if time would stand still
Life is too short for these thoughts, it’s never going be like back in those days
But don’t you feel better now in the long term? You can’t dispute this
But I know you are still believing your new-found happiness means grief to her
You still believe you did her wrong and so directly caused her grief
But believe me, the guilt is her own, so don’t feel guilty for something you didn’t cause
The places from back then, I must visit them so badly
I can never forget them, without them I’d feel total abandoned
And I know even if it feels like it sometimes, we will never turn back time
It will never be like back then, but something calls back me home consistently
You never had the chance to talk about all this, that’s why you never got over this breach
But the wounds will last forever, even if you write more than 100 songs to her distant echo
Look, tragedy is inevitable, nobody can escape
And you would still dream of freedom today, or just write about it in your poems
My Freedom was her death
My Freedom was her death
My Freedom was her death
My Freedom was her death
Still the word hope is impressively to read in my eyes
Still a small part in me believes that everything has a happy ending
But I also feel, that the winters get longer every year
And every spring I feel like it won’t get warm again…

Solitude is nothing for cowards, we’ve known this since we were kids
Being alone is not liked by everybody, you just nurture the chimera of togetherness
It made us ailing and tight-lipped and we are now still lonely when we’re around others
Let us wait in silence for the lost days, that will never ever return
Death visited me again yesterday, he brought me descriptive presents
He dyed the floor in front of me in bloody red, and instead of apples, now children hang from the trees
In the night it’s getting cold outside, and there are no places left to hide
One day there will be no way back from this mayhem, as the last shot pays gaffer death
What’s the time my friend? Is it finally ok to leave for home?
Or should we once more sit for a while, waiting for the gone days to never return?
I can nearly stand and think straight after more than ten bottles of wine
But I am anyhow still way too sober to forgive myself
I’ve always thought I could drown this grudge, that endless void I’m filled with
But as I did, I somehow just feed its flames
I didn’t expect that much, but not that this life will tear me apart
So tell me death, what’s all this void inside me?
“This void is emptiness that lasts”
What’s the time my friend? Is it finally ok to leave for home?
Or should we once more sit for a while, waiting for the gone days to never return?
I can nearly stand and think straight after more than felt ten bottles of wine
But I am anyhow still way too sober to forgive you
Cause when you fall asleep at night, I stay awake and just fall for my dark thoughts
That will make me go insane one day and will never let me sleep again
What shall I say more? How should I sleep when also the world never gets peace?
And is constantly worrying me until I won’t even feel the merest numbness
But death, as you never kept in mind to return as early as you promised
Why did you leave me behind with all this emptiness and void?
Come on, give me your hand gaffer, I show you the way to the next drinking hole,
There’s always a last last drink, but the next one is your treat…

Wos treibt di her?
I hob di do in meine Liada an unzähligen Orten da Wödt besunga

I treib mi abertausend Meilen vo dahoam im letzten Eck da Wödt herum
Owa in Gedånken bin I no immer bei dir, no imma an deim Gråb
Owa in Gedanken woa I eh nia weg, woa imma an unsam Gråb…

HOME ARE YOU OF DEEPEST WINTERS
Are you growing lonely? Or do I avoid searching for closeness?!
I’ve not seen you for a long time, nor did I scrape you
We are getting lost, somewhere on these vast streets of the city
It was always my greatest fear, if I returned one day, I wouldn’t even recognize you…
Home are you of deepest winters
What bothers you? What brings you here?
Are you the one, not knowing hindsight?
Tell me, what brings you here? What will make you leave?
I praised you in my songs at places all over the world
Again and again, but in the last years mostly far away from home
But winter tears us more and more apart, it not only takes your light
Night shall finally tear up what it unleashed in you a long time ago
Yet I’m still used to writing letters to the void
From which I haven’t received one single answer in all the years
Apathy seems to lag behind inexpressible afar
And a winter fable will never know autumns colours
Cause winter won’t vanish, winter is…
I roam these abandoned places in the back of beyond, thousand miles away from home
But in my thoughts I’m still with you, always at your grave
Winter urges and imprisons me undeterred deeper and deeper in the mountains heart
But in my thoughts I was never gone, always at our grave
Home are you of deepest winters
What bothers you? What brings you here?
Are you the one, not knowing hindsight?
Tell me, what brings you here? What will ever make you leave?

Legt lieblos Schluchten üwa Schluchten und schaufit ma jedes Joa a neies Grob
Nua wü I unerbittlich weidalebn, bis I endlich in Mond vo da ondern Seitn da Wödt gseng hob
Legt lieblos Schluchten üwa Schluchten und schaufit ma jedes Joa a neies Grob

English:
ADVENT
It’s been snowing since this morning, the lake’s already frozen
And the last year passes off feisty like traces in snow
We won’t know what future brings until it happens
Nothing in this world lasts forever, ebb is always followed by flow
Up in the mountains I feel freedom with every step I take
This turns every moment to one that lasts eternally
I feel the forgiveness of the rain, the wind and its coldness
I become one with the moment, so I’m not far away from home
I never really knew what or why, just that something must happen
Time did never heal my wounds, only robbed my confidence
That’s why I travelled to the back of beyond, to wave this life goodbye
Say farewell to all of you, to leave it all behind
Somber autumn will witness, as the snowy woods bear the last year
Throws only shadows on what once was and what will become
Lays void over void, digs me a new grave every year
But I will live relentlessly until the day I saw the moon from the other end of the world
Mankind so abandoned and volatile forgets so easily
He will give it all and every time, but it will never be enough
Cause it nearly takes a lifetime to become the one you want to be
We reach our zenith just the day we die
We exist more, than we really live
And so days pass like hours
We adjourn the important things year in and year out
Until we got too old, old and cold
Somber autumn will witness, as the snowy woods bear the last year
Throws only shadows on what once was and what will become
Lays void over void, digs me a new grave every year
But I will live relentlessly until the day I saw the moon from the other end of the world
